  • Hey Ya’ll. Guess what? Another year has begun.
Eleven new guys arrived last Monday, and a new female RA is present. Her name
is Kristy. They all came and got into their rooms, met their roommates and the
staff. They got some briefings on rules and how everything else runs at Sonne.
By the next day, everybody had arrived. As there aren’t enough seniors to fill
the senior floor, there are some juniors up there. The halls were filled with
luggage and boxes as everybody unpacked and set up their rooms.

The next morning was the first day of school. The
seniors had to go in early, while everybody else went down on the bus.
Everybody arrived and mingled with fellow students, staff, and parents.
Eventually, everybody reached their seats in the auditorium, and the seniors
shuffled in, proudly displaying flags of countries represented at BFA. The
seniors were then given their charge for the year, and the teaching and
residence staff also received a charge. Student body president, Austin
Huckfeldt (5th Sonne President in a row) gave a speech on the
required unity for the upcoming year. Mr. Shuman, director, gave a speech on
how everything should be done with God in mind, using a man with a really long
name as a lesson from history. When he finished, everybody was dismissed for
final goodbyes. Afterwards, the students were then sent around various
locations to receive information, textbooks, and sign up for extracurricular
activities. It was an easy day for all.

School this week has been easy for many of them.
There has not been much homework issued, and so people have been able to play
soccer and hang out more after dinner. Food this year is made by a French
company, so it is excellent in quality, though slightly lacking in quantity. By
now, everybody has cleaned and set up their rooms, as room checks start
    tomorrow.

Friday afternoon was the opening party. It was
titled “Chillin’an’Grillin.” Everybody chilled, conversed, and had fun while
enjoying steak and bbqed chicken. After dinner, all the students went up to the
gym, where games were ready. They played the classic game of trying to pop
another person’s ankle balloon while not having your own popped. That was
followed by a game of “pass the hoolla hoop around a linked arm human ring.”
That was quite funny to observe, as some groups were made of  some very tall people. A final game was
played, in which all the guys in each class got on the floor, a girl got on a
gym mat, and the guys had to push the mat from one end of the line to the
other, without the girl falling off the top. Everybody was laughing in the end.
An RA fashion show, in which Sonne RA s were dressed up mighty sportily,
followed up in the auditorium. A game of speed “not dating” how ya doing was
played, where everybody cycled around and asked each other interesting
questions and got to know new people. Coke floats topped off the evening, and
all the Sonne guys returned to watch Malibus Most Wanted.

Saturday was the trip to Carrefour to shop for
school supplies and whatever else anybody needed. By the time everybody
arrived, there was a convoy of over 15 BFA vans on the same road. Everybody
wandered around Carrefour, finding what they needed and talking to their
friends. After everybody returned, a fire and a soccer game were started, and
both Blauen and Sonne gathered around and had fun talking and hanging out.
Sunday was enjoyable, partially due to the new looser clothes guidelines for
church. The afternoon was declared excellent for floor soccer and a water
balloon fight. Second floor won in a goal in sudden death against the third
floor. The water balloon fight was quite enjoyable for cooling off. And now is
night time, and Monday is tomorrow, and the first full week of school. See ya
    soon!
